NEA's Taming Your Office workshops will help you master computer features and functions that you'll use daily to be more productive in your business or personal office.

Running a small business has many rewards, but spending the weekend in the office is not one of them. Our workshops teach you faster and more efficient ways to complete office chores -- often using the software you already have on your computer - so you can spend your precious time on your customers, not on your office tasks.


Workshop Selections:


Instructor Dorsi Smith brings to the classroom two decades of experience at Hewlett Packard/Agilent and ten years of helping small businesses use technology.

Workshop demonstrations use Microsoft Outlook version 2003. Most features are in other versions, just different keystrokes to find them. Also, non-Outlook™ users benefit as well. Feel free to bring your laptop to follow along.

    Surviving Your Office

    Do you save printer ink by using draft? Can you clear memory or clean-up your disc drive? Do you know how to backup your data? Can you find files when you can’t remember what you called it (or what folder you saved it in)? Are you using other resources (printers, delivery services, online stamps, virtual office, etc.) so you can focus on your customers? This workshops covers “those other things” that help you be more effective and efficient.

    Connecting your Contacts

    How many business cards are collecting dust on your desk (or floor or in a basket)? Learn how to use MS Outlook™ to organize your business cards electronically. We will cover: sending group emails using Categories, Folders and Distribution Lists (and which method is best); handout for making paper mailing labels; keeping track of meetings and follow-up tasks for each contact.

    Outlook for Organizing

    How many sticky notes are hanging on your computer monitor? Learn how to drop those into your computer by using the main features and advantages of Outlook™ Calendar, Tasks and Memos to organize your appointments and tasks. Learn to use color in your calendar along with repeating appointments, birthdays and connecting tasks to specific people.

    Outlook Email: Beyond the Send

    Why are there 500 emails in your Inbox? Can you find what you need? How do you “file away” emails for later? Learn to create professional emails, use attachments, common email etiquette, automatic signatures for out-going emails, BBC and more.

    PC Tips & Tricks

    We'll cover all those "little things you didn't know" that will save you time and money (like saving ink when printing): how to move around, select things, find files, multi-tasking, clear memory, organize file folders, USB drives (also called thumb drives, flash drives or jumpdrives), backup strategies and more.

    MLM Easy Money (MLMEM)

    This is great software specificially for direct sales organizations. Learn more at www.mlmsoftwaresolutions.com. From their website you can download a demo to give it a test! We teach basic MLMEM and are developing classes specific to an industry. In May 2008, we have an Arbonne specific series of classes.

    Custom Topics

    Are you looking for help in a different area? We also have experience with Microsoft Word™ and Excel™ (creating tables, utilize hidden tables, creating checklist).
